Rebuilding After The Storm 

Damage from the storm that dropped over 8” of rain in 2 days at the end of July will extend far beyond this growing season. In addition to the immediate loss of our crops, we now face the difficult task of replacing our inventory of dahlia tubers and valuable plant stock that we have carefully collected, propagated, and built over the past four years.

For a small farm, these losses represent years of time, investment, and growth—and rebuilding will not happen overnight.

We’ve received numerous offers from our gardening community and neighbors on how to help. Whether its your offer to share tubers or a donation to support our replacement costs, we appreciate the concerns and cheering on.

We’ve had our FSA Agency out to the farm and we do not qualify for crop replacement help through their programs. We were just informed on that visit of NAP insurance, a free catastrophic event insurance that would help us as a woman owned business. Unfortunately, our enrollment now will only cover events going forward. We have submitted our damages to the disaster relief efforts and surveys, however they are still assessing whether help on a state or federal level is warranted.

That said, we’ve been asked how our local community can support our next few years of rebuild and recover. We’ve decided to set up a donation page. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us move forward with a little less worry and a little more hope. Your support will help us replace lost plant stock, repair damaged growing areas, and fuel the rebuilding journey ahead.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out, shared our story, offer tubers (we will graciously accept), supported our farm, or simply reminded us that we’re not facing this recovery alone.
