Registration is required. Don’t delay! These are the only workshops we will be offering this season!

Please note: Tickets are non-refundable BUT transferrable to another person for the same day if you cannot make it.

Note: We will be using a 14” ring to begin our wreath making adventure! Finished wreaths should be generally 18-24” inches in diameter upon completion. Sizes and widths will vary based on how they are built and placement preferences.

This season brought an unexpected challenge to our farm when more than 8 inches of rain fell in a very short period, flooding our fields and causing the loss of more than 80% of our dahlia crop. The damage affected not only this season’s flowers, but also future tuber sales, workshops, and other farm experiences we had planned.

Our fall workshops are one way we’re working to rebuild and move forward. By joining us, you’re not only spending an evening creating, learning, and having fun—you’re directly supporting the recovery of our small farm and helping us prepare for a stronger 2027 season.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to attend, share our events, or simply cheer us on. We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm. ❤️

Learn How to Dig, Divide & Store Dahlias

Sunday, October 25th | 1:00–2:30 PM
Guiding Green Thumbs | Chatham, NY

Growing beautiful dahlias is only half the fun—learning how to successfully save them from year to year is the next step!

Join me for an in-person, hands-on lesson covering the entire process of digging, dividing, and storing dahlia tubers for winter. We’ll start in the field with a demonstration of how and when to properly dig your dahlia clumps, then walk through cleaning, identifying viable tubers, finding the eyes, and safely dividing a clump.

You’ll learn:

  • How to know when your dahlias are ready to dig

  • The best way to lift clumps while minimizing broken tubers

  • How to clean and prepare tubers for dividing and storage

  • How to identify the crown, neck, body, and eyes of a viable tuber

  • Step-by-step instruction and demonstration for dividing dahlia clumps

  • Which tubers to keep—and which ones to toss

  • Different winter storage methods and the pros and cons of each

  • What storage medium to use and how to pack your tubers

  • Ideal temperature and moisture conditions for winter storage

  • How to check your tubers throughout the winter and troubleshoot rot, mold, and shriveling

  • Tips for labeling and organizing your collection so spring planting doesn't become a mystery-solving exercise

  • Q & A

This workshop is designed for both newer dahlia growers and gardeners who have grown dahlias but want more confidence dividing and overwintering their own tubers.

Come dressed for the weather! We’ll work with real dahlia clumps so you can see the process from the ground all the way to winter storage.

Sourdough Workshop with Marcy of Wildflour Cottage Bakery

Sunday, October 4th | 3:00–5:00 PM
$85 per person | Limited to 15 participants
Guiding Green Thumbs | Chatham, NY

Ready to finally understand the magic behind a beautiful loaf of homemade sourdough?

Join us in the barn at Guiding Green Thumbs for an intimate, hands-on sourdough workshop with Marcy of Wildflour Cottage Bakery.

Marcy will walk you through the sourdough process from starter to loaf, helping take some of the mystery—and intimidation—out of baking. You’ll learn the techniques, timing, and little details that make the biggest difference between “Well, it’s technically bread…” and a loaf you can’t wait to slice into.

During this two-hour workshop, Marcy will cover sourdough fundamentals, including working with and maintaining a starter, mixing and developing your dough, fermentation, shaping, baking, and troubleshooting common sourdough problems.

Whether you’re brand new to sourdough or have a starter sitting in your refrigerator that you’re not quite sure what to do with, this class is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to continue baking at home.

Sunday, October 4th

3:00–5:00 PM | $85 per person

~AS A BONUS: Receive your own sourdough starter to take home and start practicing those skills! ~

Space is intentionally limited to 15 participants to keep the workshop personal and allow plenty of opportunity for questions and hands-on learning.

Come spend a cozy fall afternoon in the barn, learn a new skill, and discover just how rewarding homemade sourdough can be.
